In our latest Media Coffee episode we speak to Gaby Natale of SuperLatina about reaching and engaging with the Hispanic community in the US.
Gaby is a three-time daytime Emmy award-winning journalist, author and founder of Spanish language TV news programme and online brand SuperLatina.
As well as presenting SuperLatina, Gaby manages the show’s day-to-day production and all aspects of marketing and communication. As a result, she’s uniquely placed to give us the perspective of both a journalist and comms professional.
3 recommendations for working with SuperLatina from Gaby Natale:
- The Latino community in the US is composed of many different cultures – do your research in order to be respectful and resonate with the target audience
- Cultivate a relationship with the key players covering your industry, this will pay off in the long term and is far more effective than cold-calling
- When reaching out to the Latino community in the US in Spanish, the convention is to use “neutral Spanish” and avoid region specific words
