The Herald has launched a new opinion section, Voices Live, a new platform for digital-only content which will be exclusive to subscribers. Among the new high-profile writers to join the newspaper, include BBC Scotland journalist Brian Taylor, the popular former Scotsman columnist Lesley Riddoch, ex-Labour MP Brian Wilson, and The Scottish Farmer’s political affairs editor Claire Taylor. Professor of public health and Covid expert Linda Bauld also joins the title’s team of health journalists with a regular column. In sport, former Scotland managers Alex McLeish and Shelley Kerr will spearhead the paper’s coverage of Euro 2020 while Adam Hastings will contribute a regular column during major rugby events. Comedian Janey Godley will also have a weekly column. Voices Live will have additional comment, analysis and insight from its regular writers like Iain Macwhirter, Neil Mackay and Alison Rowat.

The underground Hip Hop, electronic and dance music station Trickstar Radio is being relaunched with new programmes, digital presence and with on-demand shows. As well as brand new studios, the station will also be added to Arqiva DAB multiplexes in South Hampshire and Sussex to reach a wider audience. More information will be available here.

Tripwire
Tripwire has released a print magazine for the first time in ten years, a winter special which is available now on Welsh and English newsstands. Tripwire covers graphic novels, film and TV, and has been available as a website since 2015. At the end of March they will launch a new bi-monthly, digital-only magazine.

Virgin Radio UK
Giovanna Fletcher, Sharleen Spiteri and Gaby Roslin have been appointed guest hosts of Kate Lawler’s Virgin Radio UK weekday Drive Time show, whilst Kate is on maternity leave. Giovanna Fletcher will be covering Kate’s show from 1-12 March. As well as Giovanna, lead singer of rock band Texas, Sharleen Spiteri, will host from 15-26 March, while TV presenter Gaby Roslin will present the show in April. 

Freelance Update - Melissa Hobson
